Last updated 11 October 2026 · Applies to the Chakra mobile app and chakra.deepvalley.in

Chakra reads the battery in your e-rickshaw and turns it into things worth knowing: how far you can really go, what the day cost you in energy, and what is wearing out. Doing that needs data from your vehicle and your phone. This page says exactly what we take, why, and what we do not do with it.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. There is no advertising SDK in the app.

Who we are

DeepValley Energy, operating in Bihar, India. We build second-life EV battery packs, the Chakra app that monitors them, and the Battery-as-a-Service programme that puts them under drivers. Contact connect@deepvalley.in for any question about this policy or your data.

What we collect

Your account
Phone number, which is how you sign in and how we identify your account. Your name. Optionally an email address, your age, and your village, panchayat, block, district and PIN code if you choose to add them.
Location — including when the app is closed
While a trip is running, Chakra records the route your rickshaw takes, roughly once a second. While the rickshaw is parked and Chakra is connected to the battery, it notes the position about once a minute so the vehicle can be found between trips. Both continue when the app is in the background and after your screen locks, and both are sent to our servers and stored with your account.

This is what turns the energy you used into a real range figure, and what builds the road-condition map. Recording stops when Chakra is not connected to your battery. You can withdraw location access at any time in Android Settings; the app keeps working, but distance becomes an estimate and trips have no route.
Battery and vehicle data
State of charge, voltage, current, temperature, the voltage of each individual cell, protection and fault events, and the Bluetooth address of your battery management system. On vehicles with our IoT hardware, also motion from the onboard accelerometer, which is how road roughness is measured.
Microphone — only while you hold the button
The in-app assistant has a voice input. Audio is captured only while you are holding that button, and is converted to text by the speech recognition service built into your Android phone. We do not record or store audio.
Photos — only for delivery pickups
If you run deliveries through the app, it asks you to photograph the sealed package at collection. That photo is sent with the pickup confirmation. The app never opens your photo gallery and never accesses photos you did not take for a pickup.
Your device
A push-notification token, the platform, app version and device model. Used to deliver alerts and to tell which app build a problem came from.
What you write to us
Support tickets and your conversations with the in-app assistant.

Why we collect it

To show you live battery readings and a range figure that reflects the road you actually drive. To spot a cell going out of balance or a pack overheating before it strands you. To record trips, distance and energy. To build the road-quality map that makes range estimates account for the road ahead. To run the Battery-as-a-Service agreement if you are on one, including the daily fee and your refundable deposit. And to answer you when you ask for help.

Who it is shared with

Four services, each for one job. None of them receive your data for their own purposes, and none of it is sold.

Anthropic — the in-app assistant
When you use the assistant, your question and summaries of your vehicle data (trip distances, efficiency, battery health, alerts, service status) are sent to Anthropic’s Claude model to produce the reply. Your name, phone number and GPS coordinates are not included.
Google Firebase — push notifications
Delivers alerts to your phone. Receives your push token and the notification content.
Google — speech recognition
Android’s built-in speech service converts your voice input to text. On most phones this is provided by Google and processing may happen on Google’s servers, under Google’s own privacy terms.
OpenStreetMap — map tiles
Map images are fetched from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address as part of any ordinary web request. No account or location data is sent.

We will also disclose data where the law requires it, and to a buyer if the business is ever sold — in which case this policy travels with it and you will be told.

How it is protected

Everything the app sends travels over HTTPS. Your sign-in token is held in the Android Keystore. The app is configured so that its stored data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so your session and your battery password are not copied off the handset.

We are a small team running on a single server. We are telling you that rather than describing an enterprise security programme we do not have.

How long we keep it

Telemetry and trip history are kept while your account is open, because the value of the product is the history. Battery measurements stay with the physical battery for its life, since a pack is redeployed to other drivers and its health record has to follow the cells rather than the person.

Payment and deposit records are kept as a financial record for as long as Indian law requires, even after an account is deleted. Once the account is gone those records carry no name, phone number or address.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data from Settings → Delete account inside the app, or request it from deepvalley.in/account-deletion without installing anything. That page lists exactly what is removed and what is kept.

One condition: if a DeepValley battery is still assigned to you, or your Battery-as-a-Service subscription is still running, we ask you to close that with us first so your ₹12,000 deposit can be returned. The app will tell you if this applies and who to contact.

Your choices

Location, notifications, microphone and camera are all permissions you grant, and all of them can be withdrawn in Android Settings at any time. The app is built to keep working without each of them and to say what it loses. You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, at connect@deepvalley.in.

Children

Chakra is for commercial e-rickshaw drivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where the change is significant, the app will ask you again rather than relying on you noticing.
